Program Introduction
Harbin Institute of Technology offers a Pre-university program for international students planning to pursue academic degree programs. The program aims to comprehensively enhance students’ language proficiency and academic foundations, laying a solid groundwork in academic Chinese, necessary subject knowledge, and cross-cultural adaptability, thereby helping students transition smoothly into the professional learning environment of their future degree programs.
The program provides options for instruction in either Chinese or English, with a study duration of 18 or 36 weeks. Upon successful completion, Harbin Institute of Technology will issue a completion certificate.
I. Curriculum
Chinese-Taught Pre-university Program: The curriculum adopts a trinity-based modular structure of “language intensification+ subject integration + cultural adaptation, emphasizing the connection and application of knowledge. Through systematic course training, it helps students enhance their Chinese language proficiency, subject knowledge foundation, and cross-cultural adaptability, enabling a smooth transition to the fully Chinese-taught environment in the academic degree program phase.

English-Taught Preuniversity Program: The program adopts an interactive + supportive training model with a scientifically comprehensive curriculum system. It creates an immersive English learning environment for students, aiming to comprehensive enhance their academic English proficiency, foundational professional knowledge, and cross-cultural competencies. Additionally, the program incorporates courses such as Basic Chinese and Overview of China to facilitate students’ cross-cultural understanding and adaptation.

II. Eligibility
① Non-Chinese citizens;
② Physically and mentally healthy;
③ Senior high school diploma or equivalent diploma, aged between 18 and 28 (applicants under the age of 18 must provide a letter of authorization from their guardian).
Note: International students who complete pre-university courses at HIT can obtain priority admission to degree programs.

Note: The fees mentioned above are non-refundable apart from the accommodation fee.
IV.. Application Documents
Applicants are required to Log into the Harbin Institute of Technology International Student Application System to complete the online application and upload scanned copies of the following documents as required. All application materials submitted must be in Chinese or English. Documents in other languages must be accompanied by notarized translations:
① Copy of the passport frontpage (an ordinary passport valid for at least one year);
② Senior High school graduation certificate. Graduating students may provide an expected graduation certificate, but must submit the original senior high school graduation certificate or a notarized copy upon enrollment;
③ Transcripts of all courses completed during high school;
④ Language proficiency certificates:
For the 18-week Chinese-taught Pre-university program: A New HSK Level 3 or higher certificate;
For the 18-week English-taught Pre-university program: A relevant certificate proving English proficiency.
⑤ Curriculum Vitae;
⑥ Non-criminal record report (valid within six months);
⑦ Remittance voucher of application fee (CNY 400 or USD 60).
V. Application Process
Step 1. Log into the online application system https://hit.at0086.cn/student and choose Pre-university Program to fill in the application form.
Step 2. Pay the application fee of CNY 400 or USD 60.
Step 3. Upload application documents as required.
