I. Program Introduction

The Youth of Excellence Scheme of China (YES China) Program, under the auspices of the Chinese Government Scholarship, is an initiative by the Ministry of Education of the People's Republic of China. This program aims to provide financial support to outstanding international youths who wish to pursue a Master’s degree in China. 

The HIT Transportation Engineering Program aims to cultivate international elite talents. These talents should have a solid foundation in basic theories, profound professional knowledge, and the ability to independently engage in scientific research and solve complex engineering problems. They need to possess scientific thinking, innovative capabilities, an international perspective, and management literacy, be competent in working in one of the fields such as Road and Railway Engineering (including Airport Engineering), Transportation Planning and Management, Traffic Information and Control, Vehicle Operation Engineering, and Traffic Safety Engineering, and be able to lead the future development of transportation engineering technology and the progress of the industry. 

II. Program Description

1. Scholarship Coverage: Full Scholarship (The living allowance lasts for one year)

2. Teaching Language: English

3. Duration of the Scholarship: Two-year Program (1+1 study model)

In the first year, students engage in full-time study and research at HIT, where they also prepare for their thesis. During the second academic year, students work on their thesis in their home countries, contextualizing their research within their professional environments. The thesis defense takes place in China, adhering to HIT's requirements. Only those who successfully pass the thesis defense will be awarded the degree.

 

III. Application Requirements

1. Applicants must be a citizen of a country other than the People’s Republic of China, under the age of 45, and be in good mental and physical health.

2. Applicants should have bachelor or above degree and minimum 3 years of working experience. Those with related education or working background will be preferred.

3. Applicants should be in one of the following four categories:

(1) Public officials at the division level (or corresponding level) or above in the government department of the home country; 

(2) Senior management staff in institutions and enterprises; 

(3) Administrative staff in universities and scientific research institutions; 

(4) Candidates with relevant working or internship experience in international organizations.

4. Applicants should have obtained the pre-admission letter from Harbin Institute of Technology.

 

IV. Application Documents

1. Application Form for Chinese Government Scholarship (filled in online);

2. A scanned copy of the Passport Page;

3. Highest graduate certificate;

4. Academic transcripts. Transcripts in languages other than Chinese or English shall be attached with notarized translations in Chinese or English;

5. English Proficiency Certificate;

6. A study/research plan written in English (no less than 1000 words);

7. Two recommendation letters in Chinese or English from professors or associate professors;

8. Physical Examination Record for Foreigner (valid within six months);

9. Non-criminal record report

10. Certificate of employment or proof of working/internship experience.

 

V. Application Procedure

Step 1: Apply for a Pre-admission Letter of Harbin Institute of Technology via Email at zaynlee@hit.edu.cn. Please mark the title of the email with Application of the Youth of Excellence Scheme of China Program at HIT, and enclose the homepage of the passport, application form from CSC portal, and CV in the email.

Students who have not been granted the pre-admission letter cannot apply for this scholarship.

Step 2: Please log in “CSC Chinese Government Scholarship Information System” (http://studyinchina.csc.edu.cn), and complete online application.
