Hi buddies, how’s you doing. I am Mohammed Osman, from Sudan. I am a PhD candidate at school of Municipal and Environmental Engineering. I just want to share with you some viewpoints, extrasensory perception and tangibility of ideas about study at HIT. At the first place, I wish to remind you that, you have been accepted for study at HIT because you are a great student.  It is a matter of fact that, the language barrier is the first real trouble, each student faces.

Keep all these out of the sentiment, it is just an impression you get when you land on new place. Try to think positively.

To begin with, just take it easy; don’t bother yourself or try to compromise your health with your study, since your mental health is the core of your academic success.

Truly, you need to communicate effectively to get what you need in life. Words give you the power to fight for what you want and need. Remember, everything you’re learning now, you will need later.

If you are a PhD student then I got three handy tips for you. First, you are a researcher not just a student, just keep it that way, spend reasonable time in learning how to publish scientific articles, read enough about your research project before starting your practical lab works. Don’t miss the chance that HIT offer free access to more than 95% of best journals in the world. To my knowledge, you are the only one how create an active plan for his/her study, since all others (I mean it) have no tangible benefits from your achievements, so they may not care.

Studying doctorate is not like playing a game, meaning that when you feel the stress, that sense is normal; just take a break even for couple of days. Attending conferences around china is one way for breaking through the routine of commuting between dorm and the lab.

If you are a master student, I think you are in the right place to get practical skills on how to do an experiment and that is the good start for your future doctorate study. Finally, if you are a bachelor then I would say you must be young enough to master the mandarin and feel free to join Chinese friends; you have enough time for that.

Have some Chinese friends from your school they are helpful if you understand them, they are just little afraid of speaking English. They may give a hand for understanding the surrounding, doing amazing e-shopping and so forth.  Most importantly, try to talk to your supervisor or co-supervisor regularly even about your social life, that way, you can build mutual trust.

I believe that you could be an outstanding, creative leader. Damn sure that you will. Just keep doing something nice every day, even nice smile to your friends.

My gratitude and thanks, for your appreciated time to read this short message and thanks for your positive attitude toward others’ opinions.
